Transcript of Town 102 6PM news, November 15th, 2006
- presenter: Firstly this Wednesday evening, it's feared that plans to build a new passport interview centre in Ipswich aren't all they appear to be. The Home Office is considering 69 different sites across the UK, here being just one of them. Now, protesters have been outside Ipswich Borough Council this morning as they thing the proposal which say(sic) only sixteen people will be seen a day are untrue. Geoff Brace from the campaign group number(sic) two to ID was amongst them.
- Geoff: We think in fact that they will actually have to process every passport renewal to be able to create a biometric passport. And that means that instead of 16 people a day, they will have to process something like 300 in Ipswich.
- presenter: They say the town centre won't be able to cope with the traffic if fears become reality, as around 300 people will be coming into the centre every day.
